Country Gentlemen Tribute Band

Country Gentlemen Tribute Band

WEBSITE

“The Country Gentlemen Tribute band is a group of seasoned musicians who have come together to pay tribute to the legendary bluegrass group, the Country Gentlemen. The idea for the tribute band was first born in 2005 when Bill Yates, a 20+ year member of the Country Gentlemen, Darren Beachley, and David Propst met at a Cabin Fever Picking Party in Hampton, VA, and sang some old and new Country Gentlemen songs. In August of 2005, the “Bill Yates and Friends: A Tribute to the Country Gentlemen” project was started and was completed and released in December 2006 on the MasterShield Records label. The band started touring and Bill Yates fronted the band for 9 years until he passed away in 2015. The current lineup of the band includes Mike Phipps on guitar and vocals, David Propst on mandolin and vocals, Lynwood Lunsford on banjo and vocals, Eric Troutman on upright bass and vocals, and Geoff Gay on dobro and vocals. The band vows to continue to perform as closely as possible to the original Country Gentlemen tunes, and to re-create each tune, vocally and musically, as best they can. They have earned a devoted following among bluegrass fans with their dynamic performances and authentic renditions of classic Country Gentlemen hits.”
