The Atkinson Family Bluegrass Band is a traditional group with a unique sound that combines bluegrass and Americana. They have released five studio recordings, with original material and unique interpretations of songs outside the bluegrass genre. The band is led by banjo player Dick Atkinson, who is known for his three-fingered style influenced by Scruggs and Stanley. Shelene Atkinson plays rhythm guitar and sings lead and harmony vocals, while Liza Atkinson sings lead and harmony and plays mandolin and guitar. Sara Atkinson plays bass and sings harmony vocals, and Dave Bevins, a National Dobro Champion, rounds out the group with his tasteful and inventive dobro playing.
